Surely we’ve all been there: rent is due, payday is still days away, and your next meal becomes less about preference than choosing the least offensive combination of whatever ingredients you have left. That just about captures my monthly reality back when I was a university student. Cup-a-Soup sachets would be rationed, the depths of whatever shampoo remained would be tested, and the rest, as they say, is history.Or is it? Because if there’s anything those years taught me, it’s that once you’ve learned how to make do, some habits are surprisingly hard to shake—even when you no longer have to.
